COMMUNITY LIVING
In a community living situation, consideration for fellow students is imperative. The health, safety and general rights of others should be regarded at all times.
PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AFFECTION: Behavior in a public place between couples should be such that the couple always appears approachable, rather than exclusive.
SIGNS AND POSTER PRODUCTS: which are not in keeping with the standards of NNU are prohibited in or around residence halls. The following are examples of prohibitions:
a. Sexually suggestive posters (male or female).
b. Displays, including clothing, which promote inappropriate activities or products (i.e., alcohol or tobacco, drug, and/or drug paraphernalia sponsored posters).
c. Alcohol or tobacco containers (full or empty)
d. Writing directly on room or wing doors.
DRESS CODE: NNU students are expected to dress with Christian principles of modest, dignity, good taste, self-respect, and appropriateness to the occasion. Some specific guidelines are provided below:
a. Bodily cleanliness and neatness of dress are essential on the part of everyone.
b. Bare feet are not allowed inside campus buildings (excluding residence halls).
c. Clothing with printed material which is contrary to NNU standards, is not acceptable attire.
e. Men are to wear shirts. Participants in outdoor activities or designated sunbathing areas may be the exception.
f. Women are to cover sports bras with another shirt when not sunbathing. No bikinis in community areas.
DORMITORY ROOM ENTRY:
a. Entrance to student rooms in the residence halls by university officials will be based on the following circumstances:
• Hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness
• Health and safety.
• Essential maintenance.
• Disciplinary action.
• Major theft in residence hall or wing.
b. The following guidelines will be used by duly authorized persons in entering students rooms for disciplinary purposes:

A list of property taken must accompany the report. In the event the occupant(s) of the room are not present, a report should be made to the students who occupy the room.
• No student property may be confiscated unless clearly demonstrated to be in violation of specific health, safety, or disciplinary regulations. Property may be held only for evidential purposes and must be returned to the student after this use has been fulfilled, except for items not approved by campus regulations.
c. Entrance into and search of rooms is to be done by at least two persons, designated by the Office of Student Development.
FOOD SERVICE:
All unmarried students living in university housing are required to eat in the dining hall (Except Holly and Duplex residents).
Students are reminded that no food should be taken out of the dining hall, except in the case of Sodexho-provided to-go boxes and sick trays. You may get a sick tray request from your RD or RA.
Courtesy to others is particularly important in the dining hall, including throwing ice, food, or any other object. Disruptive behavior will not be permitted.
